:  the one of the two major forms of leprosy that is characterized by the presence of few or no Hansen's bacilli in the lesions, by the loss of sensation in affected areas of the skin, and by a positive skin reaction to lepromin and that is usually not infectious to others—compare lepromatous leprosy
