:  a passage about one and one half inches (4 centimeters) long that lies parallel to and a half inch above the inguinal ligament: as a :  a passage in the male through which the testis descends into the scrotum and in which the spermatic cord lies—called also spermatic canal b :  a passage in the female accommodating the round ligament
