Medical Definition of TAKAYASU'S ARTERITIS
: a chronic inflammatory disease especially of the aorta and its major branches (as the brachiocephalic artery and left common carotid artery) that results in progressive stenosis, occlusion, and aneurysm formation and is marked especially by diminution or loss of the pulse (as in the arm) and by ischemic symptoms (as pain or weakness of the extremities, fainting, visual disturbances, or renovascular hypertension)—called also pulseless disease, Takayasu's disease
