Coggins, Leroy (born 1932), American veterinary virologist. Coggins held successive positions as professor of veterinary virology at Cornell and North Carolina State Universities. In addition to his research on equine infections anemia, his areas of research included equine influenza and the viruses of variola, hog cholera, bovine viral diarrhea, and African swine fever. He introduced the Coggins test in 1970.
